01:35:52: Alright guys, so we will start back up with this debate! 01:37:18: ok !! 01:38:32: One moment please, we are going to post up a question in a moment. 01:39:51: Alright, this question is directed from MG1 to Crocodile Dippy: 01:39:54: "You seem to be an avid advocate of expanding the polls to series other than those involving Mario and co. However, as this wiki is commonly browsed by younger audiences, do you have any plans for more mature content that you may display in these polls? For example, censors or limits as to how mature the content can be?" 01:40:15: Your response, Dippy? 01:44:31: Hmm, hadn't thought of that. Censorship has never been a priority to me (my own personal civil rights ideals doesn't comply well with censorship in most scenarios), but I guess I'd initially try to limit non-Mario polls to G or PG games (I don't know what your ratings are; E and PG13, I think?), like Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, Rayman, etc. 01:45:00: I don't really know how I'd approach mature content, but since it would be a shame to exclude them entirely, I'll have to really think hard about that. 01:46:05: I mean, I guess some of our users defend Shadow the Hedgehog despite its vague vulgarity, so perhaps I could use that as reference. But I'll be honest, I'd need to think about it. 01:47:00: Alright MG1, does that answer your question, or do you have a follow-up? 01:48:27: No, thank you Dippy 01:48:35: (well, yes, thank you Dippy I guess) 01:48:57: thank you for calling me Dippy. *glares at Tucayo* 01:49:08: *whistles* 01:50:17: 3*counter-glares* 01:50:23: Are there any questions from anyone in the audience? 01:50:34: they're kind of too /muted/ to answer that 01:51:28: They can query us 01:53:29: I think there's one coming up. 01:53:42: He can feel it in his tail 01:54:52: the crocodilian instincts speak to me 01:55:49: I have a question for Tucayo. 01:56:12: My question is for Tucayo. Crocodile Dippy clearly states in his campaign that he "won't be interfering with committee votes unless there's a tie that needs breaking." How extensive will your involvement in the affairs of selecting polls be? 01:56:43: My involvement will be limited to making sure everything is working smoothly. My vote will carry no more weight than that of the other members. 01:57:17: Alrighty, thank you for your response. We can move on to the next question. 01:58:01: OK 01:58:14: Well, we have one from our delightful friend Perchiyama who is nice and asks questions 01:58:19: What sort of vetting process will be placed on the questions to weed out polls that are too wide/too narrow/too irrelevant/just plain suck? 01:58:38: This question is for both candidates, right? 01:58:43: indeedy-do 01:59:42: edo you copout 01:59:48: >:( 02:00:27: Is he now a copin? 02:01:17: I'll answer first 02:01:18: Yes! 02:02:28: As with other processes inside the committee, I'm planning for vetting to be decided by majority vote of the poll committee members. 02:03:42: done 02:04:13: OK 02:04:14: Thank you 02:04:16: Plurality votes, my bad 02:04:42: 3If any issue with this will arise at all. 02:05:15: 3Usually, polls that are too vague or irrelevant don't receive any votes anyway 02:05:24: 3The process is pretty self-regulating. 02:05:59: 3Unless there are no other options, in which case the appropriate solution would be "make more polls". 02:07:38: yeah, it's kind of a simple process 02:08:03: if a poll is too broad, then split it 02:08:22: now we have two polls to use !! We get to take a week off. :P 02:11:09: 3and of course dippy would use that week to take a vacation, paid by tax money, the fiend! 02:11:24: OK 02:11:28: Thank you everyone 02:11:34: You too Perchiyama 02:12:03: Wait, are you plunging me back into the veil of silence now? 02:12:06: (unless you have any follow-up questions, that is) 02:12:10: (no i don't) 02:12:11: Well, yeah, kind of 02:12:14: Jerk. 02:12:15: Sorry D: 02:12:16: for your information, I'd spend that week /drinking/ 02:12:19: I'll be of legal age soon 02:12:25: (call me later) 02:12:33: So our next question is from MG1, directed at Tucayo: 02:12:38: 3drinking away the users money. Despicable! >:( 02:12:40: "Dippy has expressed his position on polls that do not relate to Mario, what is your position on these sorts of polls?" 02:14:55: Against. I feel the polls should be kept on-topic. Our users come searching for a Mario site, it would be weird for them to find a poll about, say, TF2 in the Main Page. I know at least I would feel disconcerted by it. 02:15:40: Maybe the users like said subjects, but guests make the most of our hits, so it would be unwise to do that. 02:16:13: Done 02:16:45: 3So it seems there will be some contrast between the candidates after all! 02:17:09: Just to clarify, I'm not gunning to have an excess of non-Mario polls 02:17:13: just to spice things up every now and then 02:20:20: Arighty, thank you for the question MG1, and thank you for your response, Tucayo. 02:20:42: We will be having one final question now, unless anybody has any more questions to send to MG1 or me. 02:21:39: If nobody else sends in questions after the response to this question, then your chance is lost and you will have to wait (or hold your silence forever, because a second debate is certainly not guaranteed). 02:22:19: So, the last question will be coming from me 02:22:25: And it is a question for both candidates 02:24:14: You both detail extensively how you plan to select committee members in an effort to have an active and productive committee. Do you have any plans on how to keep up activity in the committee? Furthermore, what will you do if the committee does become inactive? 02:24:34: I will accept a response from whichever candidate wishes to go first 02:25:21: I'll answer 02:26:38: I'll be somewhat lenient in regards to activity, but the key to a good committee is activity and responsibility. If the members are active in other places around the SMW community but deliberately ignore the Committee, they will be warned. And if their activity level doesn't improve, fired. 02:27:27: That's part of why I'll carefully pick the members, I need users who are genuinely interested in the project. 02:28:44: Thank you 02:28:46: Dippy? 02:31:54: Well I'm lenient, since I want the project to have a relaxed feeling, especially to people who've not had much experience in the process; I mean, me and Crash are new to this as well. I'd give credit where credit is due, to let my staff know I'm acknowledging their efforts, and try my best to be accommodating to them to make them /want/ to work hard... 02:33:04: But ultimately, it is up to them if they want to be there or not. as I said, I still don't tolerate negligence. If you really don't care, then don't pretend you do; there are better uses for both your time and mine. This is why I don't want to hand-pick people; they may not care, and are only agreeing to be nice or as a favour... 02:34:04: I want people who care, who are willing to go the extra mile to be a part of this project. And so they give me that loyalty, I give them the same loyalty back; I want them to feel welcome, and I won't acknowledge temp-bans so they can still contribute to the project. Even if they're banned on the forum, I will find other means to get the information to them. 02:34:30: SO BASICALLY, kind, welcoming, but stern. I don't have the money to buy everyone cookies, so that'll have to do 02:34:59: See?! He won't buy everyone cookies! 02:35:03: OK thank you to both of you 02:35:10: If you want cookies go to Tucayo 02:35:17: :) 02:35:19: If you want a good poll committee, go to Dippy (jk) 02:35:23: D: 02:36:06: I hope this debate helped people decide who to vote for if they're undecided, or changed some of the minds of people who already voted 02:36:11: Thank you for attending 02:36:19: The debate is now over 02:36:22: This has been MG1 02:36:26: (and SMB, I guess) 02:36:34: The link to the election: http://www.mariowiki.com/The_%27Shroom:Issue_LXIII/Poll_Chairperson_Election 02:36:35: Good night MarioWiki!
